All My Life (First Things #1)

Author: Rucy Ban

Publisher: Tiefenbacher Pubs

Release Date: May 2, 2013

Genres: Contemporary, New Adult, Romance

Summary:

Seventeen-year-old Kari meets Neil Mars. “Neil as in Armstrong and Mars…as in Bruno.” A boy who beats every vampire, werewolf, highlander fantasy Kari has ever had. But she knows she can’t get close to him. Not ever. Because that would mean telling him everything. Coming clean. And Kari can’t bear the idea of changing the way Neil looks at her. Like she’s the only girl in the world. His reverence is something too precious to lose. Perhaps even at the cost of losing him.

But Kari doesn’t know why Neil calls her his ‘Angel’ and when she finds out, she realizes what love is all about. Boundless joy, unending longing and a fuckload of heartache.

About the Author:

Rucy Ban was born in 1978 and still continues to thrive. Ever since she first met Francine (the protagonist of her favorite novel, A Tree Grows in Brooklyn), Rucy fell in love with the written word. Rucy has a B-school degree in Marketing which she now puts to good use teaching lovable rowdy rogues and negotiating with her equally belligerent adolescent. In her previous avatar, she handled corporate communications for companies. At present, Rucy lives in Sao Paulo, travels often, speaks decent, if not quite fluent, Portuguese and really hates talking about herself in third person.

My Thoughts:
Eh, it was okay. I'm going to go ahead and tell you all that this book has a range of 2.5- 3.0 hearts. Let me explain why:

*FIRST- red alert to those of you/us who tend to go crazy from too may errors, whether they be grammatical or punctuational: you will not be very happy with this and will go nearly crazy (I did). Also, some of the senetence structures didn't make a lot of since. It was mostly where the words didn't really connect with the others in the sentence (if that makes any since to you). I think I should also mention how there were things like split infinitives (Go English class!) throughout the ebook. Perhaps All My Life could have used another editing session. (No offense intending to the people who (maybe?) edited it.)

Next, there's sort of an age difference between the main character(Kari) and the love interest (Neil).... Like six years of one. Yeah, I'm seventeen right now, and I couldn't see myself dating a 23 year old just because of the whole age thing, and isn't there limits in some states (in the US) for that type of stuff? Yeah, no dice for me.

The age difference aside, I did like Neil's character, but that's probably because he's like the perfect boyfriend character AND he's a famous pro-football player (at 23? That's kinda fast). But, eh, oh well, I still liked his characteristics.

The charcters (other than Neil, but maybe him a little bit, too) could have been fleshed out a tinsy bit more. I didn't feel connected to anyone, not even Kari (the main character), whom I should have felt at least a little connection or feelings for, especially since she has this big problem that should make me form sympathy for her. I didn't feel anything. Not a thing. Kari was alo a bit self-absorbed. Yes, us teenagers are like that a lot, but geez, Kari! She was so into herself.

So, it was also good (in my POV) that this story was about something that does affect people today. I feel like sometimes some books need to have at least one important topic between the book's pages.

Last but not least, this book had tons, I mean tonsof potential... but, unfortunately it was not really utilized in a way that would be beneficial or interesting (to me).

Yeah... So, a 2.5 - 3.0 range for this book.
