Author Emma Daley has stopped by today with a guest post for the Propheticus Blog Tour!

A lot of people ask the brief question, where did you come up with the idea for Propheticus? Since I am never given more than a couple sentences or second to give my answer it’s usually pretty short; that it was inspired by a dream. Propehticus was inspired by an eerie dream I had one night when my husband and I were living in Alaska, but being a reader, and on the other side of this conversation I would want to know more. I would want to know what that dream was and how this story came to develop. I love when the history channel dives into the secret treasures left from Dr. Seuss or Disney and reveal sketches and works written before the movies and books were ever created; the stuff that didn’t make it in. So, I will paint the picture for you as vividly as I can of what started this incredible story.

One dark Alaskan night I fell asleep and had a dream, and in that dream was a girl. This girl had long dark curls that fell down her shoulders to her side and she was love struck, sitting at a counter in front of her mother, a woman that was angelic and emanated with love. The young woman was beaming with light as she spoke with her adoring mother about the man that she was to be married to in a week. But as my dream goes on, I begin to float away from the conversation with the young woman and her mother and find that the setting is not what I had originally expected. The walls of the house were not modern, it was a cave-like dwelling, it was dark outside and you could see the curve of the horizon of the planet that they were on and the stars were big and bright with other small planets in the distance, the planet that they were on was made of red clay with a clay mountain in the near distance and little tribal men were working hard digging tunnels in the clay for something important. Back through the windows of the house, the doting soon-to-be husband walks in from outside where he has just been working; he is being trailed by a beautiful blond woman that looks to be the same age as his bride to be. His bride to be barely catches a glimpse of the woman and she glares jealously in her direction as she is strolling off to the storage area of the house to fetch something. The dark haired woman retrieves the item from the storage-a jar of nectar-then drops it as she is caught off guard by a dark grip on her; she sees red eyes in her mind, glaring at her and she can hardly breath. The young woman knows she and her family are in danger, she thinks about her mother and her loved ones. The woman rushes to the kitchen where she has left her loved ones, but before she can warn them and lock the doors, the dark creature that she has seen is already there, it has shattered the glass between her and her family, its face is inches from hers and she can smell a deathly stench; she can hear its screams. A moment that seems like forever between her and the monster forces it to retreat and she is baffled. They must leave and she knows in her mind that there is more to the universe than she ever expected, when one of the tribe leaders enters their already broken down home and recites a prophecy like an unnerving lullaby, “There shall be one, who is the Spirit; a woman whose spirit is pure and powerful. It will evade her like the light from the heavens, and fight the darkest of evil. One who is the Old; his strength and wisdom are beyond that of any human and will help him to conquer an entire army. One who is the Good; she is born of evil, but her heart is good. She will fight as equal with the army of darkness. And one who is the Undying; he can be wounded but will not die. His strength will conquer those who try.” The woman looks at the one she loves next to her and realizes that her world will never be the same and that they will have to fight together.

The rest of the dream was felt but never seen. The story in mind was already made but I just had to work out all the details. Now read the written story to fill in the blanks ;).

The Book:

Propheticus

Author: Emma Daley

Release Date: November 20, 2012

Publisher: CreateSpace

Summary (Goodreads):
There is something frightening about the way a hateful, unknown creature looks back at you. The way its beady red eyes snarl at you, and it's cheek curls with a hiss to reveal the greedy canines beneath. It is one thing to dream of this beastly creature, and it is another to have it inches from your face, its warm ungodly breath on your cheek, and its pallid gray bones reaching to devour you. My name is Aniah, and once my world was safe. But like many others throughout the universe-and here on the planet Delucia-fate would have me meet with the Mangitori de Sangue; an ancient army of blood-lusting creatures who have been frightening and devouring the inhabitants of the universe for decades. My fate brings me deep into their world. In fact, it is written somewhere-and the stories have been told long before I was ever born-of a prophecy wherein a young woman with the heart and soul of an angel will lead the universe in a victory against the Mangitori de Sangue. I am that woman. I just have to stay alive long enough to figure out how.

About the Author:

At only the age of three, you could find Emma perched in the center of the dining table, a tape player in her lap, while the other kids gathered to listen to her recite her own creative version of her favorite tales like "Jack and The Bean Stalk" or "Peter Pan". Her imagination was fueled when she signed up for a high school Greek Mythology class. It was there in high school Mythology class that Emma found her dream. Her teacher recognized her talent, and encouraged her to pursue a career in the one thing that brought her imagination to life, writing. As a military wife and with life's fast pace and strenuous demands, it wasn't until she was 26 that she finally decided to pursue those long forgotten dreams. She started her very first novel Propheticus in November of 2008, which will be released in December of 2010 and is working on the 2nd and 3rd sequels, with several other book ideas on the shelf waiting to be dusted off and put into words.
Blurb about Propheticus:

This is a self published, sci-fi fantasy book set in an ancient universe. Four destined characters run into each other by chance and discover their pasts connect them in a prophecy to destroy some of the universes most gruesome creatures. The mystery of Aniah's past begins to unravel when she meets a stranger in the desert outside her ranch on the planet Delucia. Strange things start to happen around the ranch and Aniah experiences horrible nightmares of a dark creature the longer this stranger stays and the more she begins to question her fathers disappearance years ago. This story takes you to other worlds and although the first novel offers a little more romance and mystery with some thriller, the other novels in the series have more action and adventure in them as the characters travel the universe and visit incredible worlds.
